The COVID-19 pandemic reached the US in February 2020 and significantly impacted the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. On March 16, 2020, HSDM closed its campus for a two-week lockdown and quarantine. Essential employees remained on campus during this time. HSDM continued virtual activities for the rest of the academic year. In June 2020, HSDM took steps to re-open labs for in-person use. A hybrid instruction model for classes was implemented for the Spring 2021 semester and clinics fully re-opened in May 2021. HSDM campus re-opened two months later in July 2021. In-person classes were held for the Fall 2021 semester.
