Expansion of Poussaint Pre-Matriculation Summer Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (PPSP)

Established in 1970, the Poussaint Pre-Matriculation Summer Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute was designed to prepare students from underrepresented backgrounds for success at Harvard Medical School by offering basic science courses. In 1983, the scope of the summer program was broadened to include the opportunity for students to do full-time research in the laboratories of medical-area faculty. The program continues to be a success and has expanded to encompass primary-care placements as well as careers in oncology.
